Can you drink distilled water for your health
Can You Drink Distilled Water? Some say it’s healthier than standard tap water, since it does not contain any toxins or impurities. However, others say it is not as good as simple untreated water since all those so-called good minerals are removed and this may cause health issues.
(Note: This is not about different types of water distiller reviews, pro and con, which is mentioned elsewhere and can be read here. It’s only about the issue itself, unrelated of the device used.)
Can you drink distilled water? Here’s what Dr. Weil says:
As far as acidity goes, drinking distilled water is close to a neutral pH and thus it would have no effect on the body’s acid base balance. Distilled water is safe to drink, and thats the kind of water I (Dr. Weil) use myself.
Although the answer on can you drink distilled water is absolutely yes, bear in mind that instead of buying distilled bottled water you may look into getting home water purifying system or a water distiller, but don’t invest in anything without doing some research. The drinking water systems vary greatly in quality, efficiency and price.
Followed by the above is the suggestion on can you drink distilled water
Drinking distilled water will not leach any minerals from the body. There has never been any documented evidence to prove this claim true. It doesn’t leach out minerals that have become part of the cell structure. It can’t and won’t. It collects only minerals that have already been rejected or excreted by the cells. To suggest that distilled water takes up minerals from foods so that the body derives no benefit from them is absurd. It is perfectly safe to drink.
But, on the other side, some do go against it.
Distilled water is NOT good for your health and shall be avoided. It’s amazing how the drinking distilled water myth of earlier health promoters does persist for coming generations without any serious reanalysis of the truth. I still did not locate more scientific proof against drinking distilled water including the reasons for avoiding it based on physics of what happens in water distillation.
So when asked: Can you drink distilled water the answer would be:
Evidence suggests that it is alright to drink distilled water for short amounts of time, but not as regular drinking water.
